Artist Bio
Working across painting, installation, performance and audiovisual media, Sara Christova (b. 1994, Bulgaria) explores phenomenology, transdimensionality and the art of navigating with no horizon. Merging art, science, culture, and technology, Christova’s work poses a critique of the entropic nature of our global civilization.
Her practice evolves from elaborate research mapping and calculated material interplays, embracing alternative modes of perception and notions of distortion, decay, resonance and fluidity. Drawing inspiration from discourses around Deep Time and metaphysics, internet culture and alchemy, she contemplates scientific and mythological narratives alike, extracting idiosyncratic observations rooted in the absurdity of our contemporary existential frameworks.
Since graduating with a BA in Illustration (CSAD, 2016), Christova has exhibited internationally (notably Tate Modern Lates, the Bulgarian National Palace of Culture, and National Museum Cardiff), and has collaborated with a range of artists, collectives and institutions (IKLECTIK, W1Curates, LittleBigArt, tactileBOSCH, London Paint Club). In 2023 she was awarded a Distinction for her Graduate Diploma in Fine Art at the Royal College of Art, where she went on to complete her MA in Contemporary Art Practice. Recently she was selected as the Installation/Sculpture category winner in Arts Thread’s Global Creative Graduate Showcase 2024.
