Artist Bio
Rosie Harris is an artist, creating under the name Three Tables, working in the medium of natural dye on biodegradable hemp blends. Her work takes the form of hand-painted backdrops which are later made into clothing, and explores the nature of repetition and confinement; responding to society’s replacement of God with material gain.‘In a Garden’, the backdrop sample in question, is from a series entitled ‘Precari’, Latin for ‘to pray’, which depicts Biblical places of prayer.
The work of Three Tables moves from the Gardener’s Table, where natural dyes are grown, harvested and processed; to the Painter’s Table, at which Rosie hand-paints fabric backdrops with these natural colours; arriving finally at the Maker’s Table, on which used backdrops are made into workwear-inspired clothing. Clothing that celebrates the everyday religiously repetitious, confining and glorious practice of being alive.
